End of the Summer cookout picnic time! Sat, Sep. 17th, 2005|09:29 pm zen status | relaxed E, Sasha and I went to the Cumberland Knob Recreation Area on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a cookout/picnic. We took hotdogs and hamburgers, chips, pasta salad and a couple of bottles of wine. We had a fun time grilling out and enjoying the peace and quiet of the Parkway and the wonderful views. [pics here] Afterwards we rode south on the Parkway to one of our favorite overlooks, The Lump. And that's basically all it is, a high, rounded hill on the side of the road that offers some great views of some of the ridgelines of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We laid out a blanket and had another bottle of wine while enjoying the views and the setting sun. Then it was time to climb back in the car and head back down the mountain for home.
